Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A fire broke out at a thermocol manufacturing unit in Kotwali area on Friday afternoon. The police assume a short circuit as the cause of the accident.
A total of 10 fire units took over four hours to control the situation, according to the fire department. Factory owner Vinod Sachdeva, a resident of Ghaziabad, claimed that items worth Rs 10 crore were thrown away in the fire.
Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Rahul Pal said the incident took place around 1.30 pm and fire tenders were immediately dispatched to control the situation.
"The task for us was to put out the flames so that the fire did not spread to the neighboring factories. So we used 10 fire engines that sprayed water from five sides of the factory. It took more than four hours to get the situation under control," he said.
